Six Points Can Ensure The Better Classification Effect of The Hydrocyclone

Date: 2021-06-08     From: Longding     Author: admin

Hydrocyclone is a device for classifying or separating according to particle size and density. The following six precautions can well ensure the classification effect of the hydrocyclone.

1. Determine the appropriate structural parameters

The selection of hydrocyclone should be based on the volume of pulp to be processed and the classification particle size to determine the structural parameters. First, determine the diameter of the cyclone according to the volume of the pulp to be processed and the classification particle size. When the overflow is coarse and the processing capacity is large, it is recommended to use a large-size cyclone. When the processing capacity is large and the overflow is very small, it is recommended to select a small-size cyclone phase and form a cyclone group.

2. Choose the right feeding way

The feeding methods of hydrocyclones mainly include the following three types:

A. By height difference gravity flow to the mine: requires a large height difference, generally above 5m.

B. By pump: few pipelines, better economic effect. At present, most concentrators use sand pumps to feed the ore.

C. By voltage stabilizer box: the pressure is stable, but there are many pipelines and the slurry return is large, and the economic effect is poor.

3. Maintain a stable supply pressure

The feed pressure of the cyclone will directly affect the processing capacity and grading particle size of the cyclone. It can be controlled by adding a frequency converter. The greater the feed pressure, the higher the slurry flow rate, and the greater the processing capacity of the hydrocyclone. The greater the rotation speed and centrifugal force of the slurry in the cyclone, the finer the grading particle size. After determining the graded particle size, a certain pressure is required to adapt to it. If the pressure is too high, the fine particles mixed in the sand will increase accordingly. If the pressure is too small, the coarse particles mixed in the overflow will increase, which will greatly reduce the classification efficiency of the hydrocyclone.

4. Pay attention to the change of grit port diameter

When the grit port increases, the number of grit increases, the concentration decreases, the fine particles in the grit increase, the overflow flow decreases, and the overflow becomes finer. Conversely, when the grit port decreases, the concentration of grit increases, the coarse particles in the overflow increase, and the overflow flow increase.

The grit port is one of the easy-to-wear parts of the hydrocyclone, so rubber lining or other wear-resistant materials are needed to slow down its wear rate and prolong its service life. And the new grit nozzles need to be replaced regularly.

5. Maintain proper ore concentration

The ore concentration will directly affect the concentration and particle size of the final product. When the feed concentration is too low, the classification efficiency of the hydrocyclone is higher but the processing capacity is reduced. When the feed concentration is too high, the viscosity of the slurry increases, and the classification efficiency of the cyclone decreases. Generally, the finer the grading particle size, the lower the ore concentration should be.

6. Remove debris before giving mine

For small diameter cyclones, the slag removal operation is particularly important. Before feeding the ore, a sieve can be used to isolate the weeding residue, sawdust, and other sundries to prevent the cyclone from clogging. Generally, the size of the slag removal screen is about 1/6-1/5 of the diameter of the grit port.
