How to Select The Hydrocyclone?

Date: 2021-06-16     From: Longding     Author: admin

Hydrocyclones are widely used in classification, dehydration, concentration, and other operations, especially in classification operations. However, the grinding and classification equipment is not only hydrocyclones, but also spiral classifiers. So in which case should you choose a hydrocyclone? How to select the hydrocyclone?

The applicable particle size of the hydrocyclone

The grading particle size of the hydrocyclone is generally 0.01-3mm. This shows that the hydrocyclone is suitable for fine particle classification. Spiral classifiers should be used for coarse-grained classification with a size greater than 3mm.

How to select the model of hydrocyclone?

1. Specification

For larger processing capacity and thicker overflow, a large hydrocyclone should be selected, and vice versa, a small hydrocyclone should be selected. When the processing capacity of the concentrator is large and the overflow is required to be very fine, a small-sized cyclone group can be selected.

2. Selection calculation

The structural parameters and operating parameters of the cyclone have a greater impact on the overflow particle size and classification effect, so careful consideration should be given to the selection. The relationship between the main structural parameters of the cyclone and the diameter D of the cyclone. Feeding port diameter df=(0.15~0.25)D; overflow pipe diameter do=(0.2~0.4)D; grit port diameter du=(0.06~0.20)D; cone angle α≤20°.

A. The feed and discharge of the cyclone are related to the number of solids, water, pulp, concentration, pulp density, etc.

B. Calculate the diameter D of the cyclone to obtain the diameter of the feed port, the overflow port and the cone angle

C. Number of cyclones

D. Diameter of grit

3. Reserve amount

Generally, used as a cyclone for particle size classification or desliming below 0.074mm, 20-50% spare capacity can be considered. For example, if 1 to 4 cyclones are needed for grading or desliming operations, 1 is reserved; if 5 to 8 cyclones are needed, 2 are reserved, and so on.
