How Does The Hydrocyclone Obtain High Concentration Sedimentation?

In beneficiation, hydrocyclones are mainly used for desliming, concentration, and classification operations in the grinding circuit, especially in fine grinding and classification operations. The sedimentation concentration of the hydrocyclone is directly related to the quality and output of the finished material. So how does the hydrocyclone obtain high-concentration sedimentation?

Ore concentration

The feed concentration of the cyclone directly affects the product concentration and particle size. When the ore concentration changes, there will be a series of reactions. For example, when the concentration increases, the viscosity of the slurry increases, the resistance increases, the overflow particle size becomes coarser, the concentration of sand and overflow increases, the processing capacity increases, and the classification efficiency decreases. When the ore concentration is small, the classification efficiency is high, but the processing capacity decreases, and the water and electricity consumption increases. The concentration of ore feed in production varies with the separation particle size. If the separation particle size is fine, the ore concentration should be low, and vice versa, the ore concentration should be high. The feed concentration of the cyclone closed with the ore mill is generally about 20%. In the closed-circuit grinding process, the overflow fineness is generally controlled by the graded concentration, and the appropriate concentration should be determined according to the nature of the ore and the requirements of the sorting operation.

Operating parameters

The common cause of abnormal underflow concentration of the hydrocyclone is that the operating pressure or the feed concentration of the hydrocyclone deviates too much from the design value. When the operating pressure of the cyclone is too low or the feed concentration is too small, the underflow concentration will be low. Conversely, the underflow concentration will be high. It can be solved by adjusting the operating parameters of the cyclone.

Grinding nozzle size

The size of the sand settling nozzle of the hydrocyclone also determines whether the underflow concentration can reach a predetermined value. The cyclone is usually equipped with three sizes of sand settling nozzles when leaving the factory. If the size of the grit nozzle does not meet the actual needs of on-site production, you can replace the grit nozzle of other sizes according to the situation to eliminate the problem of abnormal underflow concentration.
