The Factors Affecting Cyclone Performance

Date: 2021-07-22     From: Longding     Author: admin

The cyclone feed concentration, feed pressure, feed quantity and sediment concentration will all affect the cyclone performance, underflow and overflow particle size of the hydrocyclone. Any change of any factor will lead to the destruction of the original control balance of the hydrocyclone.

1. Cyclone feed concentration

The feed concentration of cyclones directly affects the concentration and particle size of the finished products. Increasing the concentration of the ore will increase the viscosity of the slurry, and the resistance will increase, the overflow particle size will become coarser, the overflow concentration will increase, the processing capacity will increase, and the classification rate will decrease. When the ore concentration is small, the classification rate is high, but the processing capacity decreases, and the water and electricity consumption increases. The excessively high ore concentration will cause the cyclone to overflow and run thick, and the grit nozzle will be blocked. Too low feed ore concentration will result in too low sand concentration in the cyclone and increase the circulating load. By adding water and adjusting the processing capacity of the ball mill, the feed concentration should be controlled between 35%-45% to ensure the normal operation of the cyclone.

The ore concentration varies with the particle size of the material, the particle size is fine, the ore concentration should be low, and vice versa, it is high. The closed-circuit cyclone of the ore mill generally has a concentration of about 20%. In the closed-circuit grinding process, the overflow fineness is generally controlled by the graded concentration, and the appropriate concentration should be determined according to the nature of the ore and the requirements of the sorting operation.

2. Hydrocyclone feed volume

Installing a flow meter on the hydrocyclone feed pipe to detect the amount of hydrocyclone feed. When the feed volume of the hydrocyclone increases, the system analyzes and judges according to the flow rate and the processing capacity of the hydrocyclone, and increases the number of openings of the hydrocyclone group. On the contrary, reduce the number of openings of the hydrocyclone group.

3. Hydrocyclone feed pressure

The feed pressure is the cause of the speed of slurry production in the hydrocyclone, and directly affects the processing capacity and grading particle size of the hydrocyclone. When the pressure increases, the classification efficiency can be improved, but it will increase power consumption and equipment wear. If necessary, the grading efficiency of the hydrocyclone can be improved by stabilizing the concentration and appropriately adjusting the pressure of the hydrocyclone.

4. Hydrocyclone sedimentation concentration

The sand concentration of the hydrocyclone directly affects the grinding efficiency. When the concentration is constant, the feed pressure of the hydrocyclone can be adjusted to ensure that the sedimentation concentration of the hydrocyclone is within the range of process requirements.
