The Operation of Cyclone Separator

Date: 2021-07-02     From: Longding     Author: admin

The cyclone separator is a device for classifying or separating according to particle size and density. The hydrocyclone separator has the advantages of large production capacity, small footprint, high classification efficiency, and fine particle size. The number of cyclones can be adjusted according to the on-site production situation to keep the slurry pressure balanced. To obtain a good classification effect, how to operate cyclone separators professionally?

The operation of cyclone separator

1.Before starting up, make sure that all the connection points of the cyclone unit are tightened. Clear all kinds of residues in the pipes and the box of the unit to avoid blockage after startup.

2.The valve can be fully opened (operating the cyclone) or completely closed, but it is never allowed to be in a half-open state.

3.The feed of the cyclone can be provided by pumping or a high tank. The required pressure should not be higher than 0.3MPa.

4.During normal operation, check the leakage of the connection point and take remedial measures if necessary.

5.Check for blockage caused by residue entering the cyclone. The clogging of the feed inlet of the cyclone will reduce the overflow and sedimentation flow. The clogging of the grit port will reduce the grit flow rate or even stop the flow. In case of blockage, the feed valve of the cyclone should be closed in time to remove the blockage. In order to prevent clogging, a screen can be added to the feed tank of the hydrocyclone group.

Equipment fault diagnosis and maintenance

The stability of the pressure gauge, overflow and grit flow rate, and discharge status should be checked normally. And regularly detect overflow, sediment concentration, fineness.

1. Feeding pressure fluctuation

Fluctuations in the feed pressure will damage the performance of the equipment and affect the classification effect of the cyclone. Pressure fluctuations are usually caused by insufficient pump feed due to a drop in the liquid level of the pump tank or blockage of debris in the pump. The pressure drop after a long period of operation is caused by pump wear.

Solution

A. The pressure fluctuation caused by the drop of the pump tank liquid level can be adjusted by increasing the liquid level or closing one or two cyclones or reducing the pump speed.

B.If the pressure fluctuates due to blockage or wear of the pump, the pump needs to be overhauled.

2. Blockage

The reduction or cut-off of overflow and sedimentation volume indicates that the cyclone is blocked.

Solution

A.The flow rate of overflow and sedimentation is reduced, which is caused by the clogging of the feed port of the cyclone. The feed valve should be closed, removed, and the blockage removed.

B.If the flow of grit is reduced or the flow is cut off, the grit port is blocked, and the debris in the grit port should be removed.

3. Overflow parameter analysis

Regularly check the overflow concentration and fineness. Increased overflow concentration or rough overflow may be related to increase of feedstock concentration and clogging of grit port.

Solution

First, check whether the grit port is blocked, and then check the feed concentration, and adjust it according to the specific situation.
