Influence of Ore Feed Concentration on The Classification Efficiency of Hydrocyclone

Date: 2021-07-15     From: Longding     Author: admin

The hydrocyclones are often used in sand washing production lines and concentrators. However, the classification efficiency of hydrocyclones under high-concentration feeding conditions is not good. The classification efficiency and particle size composition are important indicators to measure the separation performance of hydrocyclones, so this paper uses classification particle size to analyze the effect of feed concentration on the classification efficiency of hydrocyclones.

In the solid-liquid two-phase flow of the hydrocyclone, the interaction between solid particles and liquid varies with the concentration of the slurry. At low concentrations, the particles settle freely under the action of the effective driving force and fluid resistance, and the force between the particles can be ignored. With the increase of the solid concentration, the interaction between the particles gradually affects the movement between the solid and liquid phases, causing the particles to interfere and settle. If the slurry concentration continues to increase to a certain critical value, the interaction between the solid and liquid phases will decrease, and the mutual collision between particles becomes the main source of force on the particles.

For hydrocyclone classification, when the feed concentration is less than 30%, the coarse-grained products in the sedimentation are mostly, the fine-grained products in the overflow are mostly, and the coarse-grained products are less. When the ore concentration is 30% -50%, the fine grain size in the sedimentation does not change much, the coarse grain changes obviously, the coarse grains in the overflow increase, and the fine grains decrease. When the ore concentration is 50%-70%, the coarse-grained products in the overflow will increase, and the fine-grained products in the sedimentation will increase, and the increase is greater. This shows that as the concentration of ore feed increases, the classification efficiency of each particle size gradually decreases.

The ore feeding concentration has a great influence on the classification efficiency of the hydrocyclone. Moreover, under high-concentration feeding conditions, when the feeding frequency exceeds 45HZ, clogging of the sedimentation port is likely to occur. Therefore, in order to improve the classification efficiency of the hydrocyclone under high-concentration feeding conditions, it is necessary to try to reduce the feeding concentration or the classification concentration. Combined with frequency conversion to mine, the classification efficiency of the hydrocyclone is further improved to reach the current industrial application level.
