The Operation Mode of Hydrocyclone Separator

The hydrocyclone is a commonly used separation and classification equipment, which uses the principle of centrifugal sedimentation. When the mixed liquid enters the cyclone, it will be affected by centrifugal force, centripetal buoyancy, fluid resistance, etc. due to the difference in particle size between coarse particles and fine particles. Coarse particles are discharged through the bottom outlet of the cyclone, and fine particles are discharged through the bottom outlet of the cyclone to achieve the purpose of separation.

The operation mode of hydrocyclone separator

1. Before starting work, make sure that all connection points of the cyclone have been tightened, and all residues in the pipes and unit boxes have been removed to avoid leakage and blockage after driving.

2. The valve can be fully opened or fully closed, but it is not allowed to be in a half-open state.

3. The feeding of the cyclone can be provided by pumping water or a high-level water tank. If the flow of the pump and the cyclone match, the pressure gauge will show a constant reading. The cyclone separator is required to work under a pressure not higher than 0.3MPa.

4. Checking the amount of leakage at the connection point and taking remedial measures if necessary.

5. Checking whether there is debris entering the cyclone and causing the blockage. The clogging of the cyclone inlet will reduce overflow and sand flow. If clogging occurs, the feed valve of the cyclone should be closed in time to eliminate the clogging. In order to prevent clogging, facilities for preventing coarse materials and debris (such as dust screens) can be added before the cyclone group.

6. When the water test proves that the cyclone is working well, it can be sent to the slurry for operation.

What aspects of the cyclone need to be improved?

1. The density of slime medium cannot be adjusted, which will affect the separation efficiency of slime. The separation of the slime cyclone group needs to be further improved.

2. The separation efficiency does not reach the desired effect, usually about 95%.

3. In the case of high pressure, the energy consumption of the cyclone will increase, and the degree of wear will also increase significantly. Therefore, continue to solve the problems of energy consumption and wear of the cyclone group.

4. The reliability of the cyclone group equipment needs further research and development.
